Turn the system back on and open the relief valve to release excess air in the system.. Keep the valve open until a steady stream of water comes out of the valve. Check the pressure gauge to make sure it is within the normal filter pressure range. If the pounds per square inch (PSI) is off, you may have reassembled the filter incorrectly or something else is wrong with the system.

Troubleshoot the pool filter system to identify the problem and. you can backwash the sand filter what you need to do if it hits 10 psi above normal operating level.
